I was commissioned to do this project by a musical artist who goes by the alias B*Larry out of Texas. The project was meant to be done in order to promote an album release party for his upcoming album Found A Way. At the beginning of the project, I was given the photograph used for the album cover art, logos for the vendors who would be set up at the event, and the information that needed to be on the poster to advertise the event.
When it came to creative direction, I was given complete control aside from some final tweaks having to do with color. When it came to the use of the photo, I decided to make it the backdrop for the poster as the artist and the album were the reason for the event. As for the placement of the text I decided to have the various forms of information spread around the artist with the name of the album in its respective font located right below the image of the artist. I came up with the color palette when listening to the album and after thinking about the setting of the party as a whole which had the whole nightclub vibe.
