This project was given to me in my Type 2 class. The task of the project was to design a cookbook and a menu for a restaurant of our choice. The only catch is that it has to be a fake restaurant and we have to have an underlying concept for the cookbook.
The type of restaurant I ended up choosing was a Hawaiian Burger restaurant whose cookbook teaches its readers not only how to cook Hawaiian meals but also about the tiki culture of the land. The book touches on the key tiki gods, the meanings of each type of mask, tiki culture in today’s society, and how tiki masks are made.
As for the menu, I separated it into four different sections. These are appetizers, entrees, desserts, and drinks. When designed and printed I decided to mount the menu on a wooden board and have it fold up to the top revealing each section leading to the back page.
